If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands! Hooray for PMA!


If you follow me, you should know that I blast #PMA practically everywhere I go.  If you follow me, you should know what this means by now.  However, if you don’t, no worry because you are now about to find out.

PMA is Positive Mental Attitude.  It rejects feelings of negativity, guilt, self-loathing, anger, hate or other counterproductive feelings.  In order to achieve PMA, you’ve got to employ self talk and positive affirmations.  PMA is not simply about being in a good mood.  It’s an entirely different attitude, where you see life in a totally different way.

Maintaining a positive mental attitude can pose a bit of a challenge to those who are typically pessimists. When you see the glass as half empty for years and years, it may see a bit tough to flip the mindset.  However, it’s not impossible.  (;

Adopting a Positive Mental Attitude is more than just being happy all of the time.  It’s an entire different way of thinking.  It’s about seeing things differently.  It’s about focusing on the solution, and not the problem.  It’s about optimistic thinking.  Surround yourself with inspirational, positive-minded people will make a hell of a difference, too.  For example, I’m sure you have (or had) a friend that would drone on and on about how much they hates their job, is unhappy with their relationship, is sick and tired of being sick and tired and so on.  After your conversation, you may have felt drained!  All of the positivity was sucked out of the room and all that remained was a big, black cloud of negative thoughts and feelings.  Attitudes are contagious, and if you are around people who are constantly nagging and rude and negative, there’s a pretty good chance that may rub off on you a bit!  My mom and I call these people “toxic people.”  Being one into PMA, you can easily let their load slide off your shoulders and not take it to heart.  However, for me, personally, I find it much easier (and less of a hassle) to just remove these people completely!

Your thoughts are your choices.  Although you may not be able to change the situations around you, you are able to control your feelings and emotions.  PMA is about responding positively to each and every situation.  It has nothing to do with money or success.  It has nothing to do with the incidents that come and go into your life.  It has nothing to do with the people around you, the weather or the traffic.  It has everything to do with how you react – your attitude.  There are going to be things you can’t control in life.  People are going to pull out in front of you or drive too slow on the freeway.  Some people are going to say things you don’t want to hear.  It’s going to rain when you have a picnic planned.  You might get a flat tire.  These are all inevitable incidents that might occur more often than one would like.  But just remember – PMA is not about incidents and situations in your life, whether they be positive or negative – it’s about your attitude towards them.

I encourage you to adopt a PMA today!  It’s actually quite fun, to view everything as a learning experience.  You’re in control.  You’re in charge.  When you are approach with a situation, you can choose to feel good or bad.  The more experience you have when dealing with these situations, the easier it gets.  Join us, will you?  xx
